The door clicked shut behind me and for a moment neither of us spoke because after everything that had happened between us words suddenly felt too small to carry the weight of twenty years.
“I wasn’t sure you’d stay.” Raze said and I pulled a chair closer to his bed and sat down.
“I didn’t know how long.” I said and he smiled faintly.
“I’ll take whatever time you’re willing to give.” He said.
The room fell quiet again and outside the window I could hear distance voices moved through the hallway and somewhere farther down the corridor someone laughed before the sound disappeared again.
Life had already started moving forward and inside this room, time seemed to stand still.
“I’ve been thinking about how to explain everything.” Raze said looking at the ceiling.
