The second we got back to the house3 the tension didn’t settle and it didn’t ease. It followed us straight into the yard like it had teeth. Drake didn’t let go of me right away and I didn’t pull free right away either and that was the first problem. The second problem was everything else. “You’re done walking alone.” Drake said and I pulled my arms out of his grip. “No.” I said and his jaw tightened. “This isn’t a debate.” He replied. “It is when it’s my life.” I shot back so he stepped closer. “You almost got taken twice.” He said. “And I didn’t.” I replied. “That’s not the point.” He snapped. “It is the point. Because you keep acting like I’m helpless and I’m not.” I snapped. “I never said you were helpless.” He said. “You didn’t have to say it. You act like it.”
