That night was long and horrible. There was both hard rain and snow battering on at different hours. I watched the sky from the long glass doors of the lounge, like I could see Collin’s plane arriving back. Nothing was visible through the thick clouds. Lucifer was restless in the storm too. She did not like the sound of the heavy rain hitting the roof among the white, or the thunder and lightning. I had no idea what time they were going to be returning but it was evident I was not going to be able to get any sleep until they did.    It was past midnight when Peter went to bed, rather tipsy.
