Midnight came again, and with it, danger. Lisa stood on the rooftop of the private bar, the same place she and Melanie had met before. The city below pulsed with life, but up here, the air was still—sharp with tension. Her phone was set to record. Every word. Every breath. Trust no one. That was the new rule. Melanie arrived five minutes late, wrapped in a black coat, her lipstick faded, her eyes bloodshot but calculating. “Did you bring it?” Lisa asked, her voice clipped.
