More than 10 minutes later, Jade comes downstairs and lets us know that the paramedics are 2 minutes away. There seem to be local police here now too. The female officers came to handle the kids, and we helped get them all upstairs. Luckily, there wasn't that much of a mess in the barn, and we moved the bodies out of view when we broke in. These kids don't need to see that. I was carrying a little boy, who was probably 5. He had a busted lip and a swollen eye. He was so exhausted, he fell asleep right in my arms.
