The three of us sat together at the dining room table with Bentley Howser Brooks. He was wearing his signature sunglasses, indoors, but he had shed his suit coat over the back of his chair. He seemed a little tense as he scooped his fourth spoonful of sugar into the cup of coffee that Robyn had set in front of him.
“You might want to go easy there,” Robyn said, quickly putting the cover on the sugar bowl before Bentley could go back for a fifth spoon. “You’ve already put enough sugar in there to give the coffee mug diabetes.”
