I didn’t realize when I left to chase the thief, the damage that was done by that damned silver dragon. It was bad enough that I returned without the egg, but then, I’d come home to find that my father had been crushed in the rubble when the dragon destroyed my bedroom.
I underestimated the lengths that the dragons would go to in order to get their eggs back. I’d never heard of them smashing the castles with their tails. Blazing fire down on us, yes, but not bashing in our walls. That was new.
Of course, they might have had to do that because their thief couldn’t get the egg, seeing as how it was sitting in a blazing fire on my hearth.
