Sia couldn’t take her eyes off the figure approaching. He looked too handsome to be real. Tall and huge, pronounced muscles that even his suit jacket couldn’t hide. “Ah… my lovely Caroline,” Derek addressed Sia’s mom before hugging her and kissing her cheek. They both looked like they got along really well. “You are finally here,” Caroline smiled at Derek. “You took your time, son,” Logan said, embracing his son. “Sorry, dad… office hassles,” he walked to the chair opposite Sia’s and sat down, took off his suit jacket and handed it to one of the guards. Then he lifted his head and his eyes met hers. His gaze was cold but intense, and it made her knees so weak she suddenly had the urge to hide under the table. “Who,” he drawled, his eyes drifting from her face to the curve of her breast, then back to her face, “is that?” “Oh… pardon my manners,” Caroline laughed. “This is Sia, my beautiful daughter.” Then she turned to Sia. “Sia, this is Derek, your stepbrother.” Sia had no idea what to say to him so she just gave him a small smile and stayed silent. “How old are you, Sia?” his voice suddenly cut through the silence. Sia looked up at him, blinking in surprise. “I… I am twenty two.” “Nice,” he grinned. Sia had no idea why he had that expression, but instincts told her it meant nothing good. The dinner went on with stories about how Logan met Caroline and other stuff, but Sia barely concentrated. The heavy gaze on her from the opposite side of the table made her feel very uncomfortable. “I think we should move in by weekend,” Caroline suddenly suggested. Sia head snapped up. “Wait… what?” “We are moving in to Logan’s estate, sweetheart… we are a family now, there’s no need staying apart,” Caroline said, gently tucking a stray hair behind her daughter’s ear. Sia was speechless. Moving in means she would have to see Derek everyday, and from the way he looked at her, she didn’t want that. “I… I don’t know if that’s a good idea. I don’t want to be an 'inconvenience' to anyone,” She said. Logan’s eyes widened. “Wha… no, no… Sia, you are not an inconvenience… you are my daughter now, I’ll do everything I can to make sure you are comfortable, okay?” Sia blinked. Her eyes went to Derek again, and he just sat there, chewing on steak while his gaze on her remained heavy. Logan noticed and sighed, he felt maybe Sia thought Derek wouldn’t like having her around. “Derek? You don’t have a problem with that, do you?” Logan asked. Derek dropped his fork and leaned back in his chair, a mischievous smirk curling up his lips. “Not at all. In fact… I’d really love having her around.”
