“What!” Lian shouted, looking at me, and I nodded. I moved closer to him and pulled his hands away from Jake, separating them.
“Let’s go, I will let you explain as you said,” I told him, my voice sharper than I intended.
Jake scoffed, that mocking sound crawling under my skin.
“Do you know I called you here?” Jake said, his tone sharp.
I raised my eyebrow. Oh, he still thinks I came here because of him. He thinks I ran here like some fool again.
I turned fully to face him. “Oh, I forgot, sorry. But… do you really think I came here because you called me?” I asked.
His face twisted, and I could see his fake confidence falter.
