PROFESSOR BLACK’S POV The night dripped with silence. Only the faint crackle from the fireplace and the soft swirl of wine against glass filled the air. I sat in my study, the glow of the amber liquid dancing across my fingers as I rolled the cup between them. My mind wasn’t here. It was still in that damn office. That girl .. that reckless, desperate girl …thinking she could tempt me. A low chuckle escaped my lips. “Foolish child,” I muttered, tilting my glass. “I choose my prey. Not the other way around.” The memory played back — her perfume, her breath trembling, her boldness as she leaned close. It should have angered me, but instead it amused me.
