Hazel’s POV
I paced the room like a caged animal, my bare feet slapping against the cold floor. My heart wouldn’t slow down. Every second that passed made the walls feel smaller, the air thicker. Why the hell did Nicholas lock me in here?
Something was wrong. I could feel it deep in my bones, like a warning scream I couldn’t ignore. Was the palace under attack? That had to be it. That was the only reason he would do something this stupid. What gave him the right to think he could just lock me away like some helpless damsel in distress? What did he take me for? A fragile little queen who needed protecting while he went out to fight?
