Holly Holly couldn’t believe her eyes. There he was, her ex-husband smiling at her like he hadn’t ripped out her heart and thrown her out of his life. He looked thinner, a little hollow in the cheeks and around the eyes, like he hadn’t eaten a good meal in a while. Which didn’t make any sense to her, since it was him that wanted her gone. She was sure he’d told his mother and sister, and they had to have thrown a feast to celebrate. He looked around, taking in the ranch like he was the one that owned it. His eyes came back to her. He started towards the porch, the snow crunching under his feet. He was wearing the wrong shoes and jacket. He didn’t come equipped for a Montana winter. “Holly,” he said as he got closer. Her name from his lips surprised her. She didn’t feel anything
