A beeping sound sounded in her right ear, her eyes fluttered open and she looked around. She realized she was in the hospital and panic flooded Holly as her hands went to her stomach and she gasped at the same time.
“Hey, hey, baby, thank God you’re awake,” Maverick whispered.
She looked at him, tears coming to her eyes.
“The babies?” she asked.
“They’re okay,” he said.

“You went into shock. You passed out after seeing Kyle get shot. You started bleeding. But everything is fine. They did an ultrasound. Your placenta tore a little from the uterine wall so you need to be really careful from here on out. No trauma, no falling, little to no stress. If it tears anymore, you’ll be put on bed rest.
