I stopped outside Father's office and listened. Helena sounded frightened, but I couldn't hear Father's response. Two warriors stood beside the door, and Maris was waiting near the window. They looked surprised when I approached.
"Alpha, your father is conducting a private meeting," Maris said. "Helena has been summoned to answer some questions. There's no reason for you to interrupt. I'll inform him that you came by."
"I'm not asking you to inform him," I answered. "I want to speak with Helena. Move away from the door, Maris. I'll explain my presence to Father myself."
