Father kept the guards outside my rooms through breakfast. I could hear people moving through the pack house, but neither warrior allowed me to leave. Ronan had barely spoken since the rejection, and I could feel how badly losing Nyra had affected him. Sitting there while Kiara returned to work was becoming impossible.
A knock came before the door opened and Lysander entered. One of the guards tried to follow him, but Lysander told him he wanted to speak with his brother alone. The guard stayed outside after a brief argument. Lysander closed the door behind him.
"Kiara is working." He came farther into the room. "Maris already tried giving her enough work for three people, but Kiara refused to take all of it." There was a hint of approval in his voice.
