I looked at Lysander, wondering why Father had suddenly reassigned Darius. The timing was suspicious, especially after everything we'd discovered about the eastern border. Darius had worked under Father for years and knew how he handled security matters. If anyone remembered the orders given before Silvercrest was destroyed, it would be him.
"Who told you about the reassignment?" I asked. "Did Darius leave with other warriors? We need to find out where Father sent him. I don't believe this is a coincidence."
"One of the eastern patrol leaders mentioned it during training," Lysander answered. "Darius was supposed to supervise their next rotation, but someone else received the assignment. Nobody was given an explanation. I'll contact the patrol leader and ask what he knows."
