I listened while Lucan spoke to the pack about loyalty and the responsibility of every wolf to respect their Alpha. He never mentioned that I hadn't broken a law. The guards remained beside me as though I had already been found guilty of something. My eyes stayed on Cassian.
Nyra was furious inside me. ‘He cannot make our mate do this.’ I wished she was right. Lucan had already shown that he was willing to use my freedom to force Cassian into giving him what he wanted.
Cassian stood beside Lysander with his eyes fixed on me. I could see the anger he was trying to control. He couldn't attack Lucan with the entire pack watching, and I knew he understood that. Any attempt to reach me could give Lucan another reason to accuse us.
Lucan finally stopped speaking and turned toward Cas
