Gideon’s POV I sat in the waiting room while Deirdre was being examined, tapping my foot against the linoleum floor. My wolf was pacing inside my skull, restless and angry. Every second I spent here was a second wasted. Avery was still out there, alone, potentially trapped with the Rogue King and desperate for help. But instead of going to her, I was sitting in the doctor’s office, playing into Deirdre’s games. All because I needed to catch her in her lie. But at least, once she was exposed, I could move forward without her slowing me down. The exam room door opened, and the doctor stepped out. He glanced at me, then gestured for me to follow him inside. Deirdre was sitting on the examination table with her legs dangling over the edge. She looked nervous at first, but smiled faintly
