Avery’s POV “Get away from me,” Gideon said, shoving my hand back through the bars. “Gideon, please—” “I said get away!” His voice was hoarse. “You made your choice. You chose him.” I stared at him through the bars. His face was pale and streaked with blood and dirt. The wound on his side was still oozing blood. “That’s not true,” I said quietly. “You just stood there and watched him torture me. You didn’t say a word. Didn’t try to stop him. Deirdre was right about you all along.” My chest ached. “Gideon… It’s not what you think.” “Save it.” He turned his head away. “I don’t want to hear it.” Finally, frustration washed over me. Typical.
