Chapter 1 Lila’s pov “God, I can’t do this,” I whispered into the dark garden, my voice cracking as fresh tears spilled down my cheeks. The rehearsal dinner noise still floated out from the house behind me, all fake laughter and clinking glasses, but out here everything felt too quiet and too loud at the same time. My chest hurt like someone had tied a rope around it and kept pulling tighter.
