Evelyn’s POV
"God, this is embarrassing, but I felt it right here while I was stretching this morning," I said, pointing at the spot on my left breast through my blouse, my fingers pressing lightly like I could make it disappear if I just explained it right.
"It's small, like a pea, firm but not hard, and I swear it wasn't there before.
My mind went straight to the worst stuff on the drive over—tumor, treatments, me not even making it to thirty. I know I'm probably freaking out over nothing, but I couldn't ignore it."
Nurse Ara shut the door quietly and gave me that steady smile, the one that actually reached her eyes instead of the fake polite version you get at most places.
She moved around the small room with easy confidence, her white uniform pulling tight across her
