Novene’s POV
“Get lost! You don’t belong here anymore! Stop pushing yourself when no one wants you and your family!”
Their voices hit me the moment I stepped too close to the gate. The guards stood tall, blocking the way like I was some stranger in their eyes.
My chest tightened, but I forced myself to stand my ground.
“Please,” I said, my voice cracking. “I just need to—”
“You need what?” one of them cut me off. His tone was sharp, almost mocking me. He even looked at me from head to toe.
I clenched my fists at my sides. The gates loomed behind them, the same gates I used to walk through every single day without anyone questioning me.
Now, I wasn’t even allowed to touch them without them questioning and judging my every move.
