She denies any connection to the healings when asked directly, Chase had written. Twice now I have raised the matter with her plainly, and twice she has denied it entirely, though I do not believe her. There is something guarded about her, a stillness that reads more like trained discipline than simple shyness. I have also observed bruising on her that she takes considerable care to hide, and treatment from her own family that borders on genuine cruelty. I do not yet know if this connects to what we search for, but something about the pattern here troubles me enough to report it directly rather than wait for further confirmation.
