“Twins?” Marianne’s voice echoed inside the limousine as if the word itself had offended the leather seats. It was not the first time she had said the word since that evening. Within the long drive to the estate where Macy was residing in with Will, she had echoed the words or something similar to them.
Macy nodded, resting a hand on her stomach with a soft smile. “Yes, twins.”
Marianne leaned back in her seat, stunned. “No one on Graeme’s father’s side has ever had twins. Ever. Not in three generations.”
Graeme gave a low whistle, a faint smile on his lips. “Looks like we’re breaking records.”
Marianne didn’t respond immediately, her attention still on Macy. Her eyes were fixed on Macy as if trying to see into her uterus. “This is… unprecedented.”
