Macy yelped as she was yanked by the hair. Her scalp stung from how much it had been pulled. Macy had felt a few strands of her hair on the floor, pulled out long ago by Annette. Her cheeks were stinging, swollen and throbbing from the number of times she had been hit. Macy had no idea how long this had been going on, Annette taking out her anger on her. It felt like hours had passed. Her head felt heavy from the pain, foggy. The dull aches in her body felt like nothing compared to the splitting headache she was feeling. Her eyes were swollen and puffy from the blows, to the extent that she couldn’t see her clearly anymore. Annette stood over Macy, silent. Macy could feel the hate pouring from her in waves. It was almost palpable the force of her disdain. “Please...” Macy whispered
