As Annika went to answer the front door, the rest of the family continued with dinner in comfortable silence. However, that silence was abruptly broken by the sound of the whip cracking.
“What was that!?” Matthaeus shouted.
“That was a gunshot!” Royce exclaimed. Leon jumped to his feet so fast that the rest of the family didn’t even see him run out of the dining room like The Flash.
