As Clay was driving us to the gate, I took the opportunity to ask again. “Did one of you tell someone what we did?”
I cannot believe that Cara happened to be in there while we were talking about it. It was too coincidental. One of them had to have said something to someone. Rex had admitted that he could barely hear us talking while he was in the laundry room.
“Why would I mention it, Paxton? I’m the one who carried it out. I saw her face, Paxton. Brenna hates me, and she will never forgive me. No wonder they ran away from us and refused to return when we caught up to them at Black Adder. They already knew what we had done. Clay made the plan up, and you ordered me to do it. That kept both of your hands cleaner than mine,” Rex snarled out.
