Amy’s POV My breath was ragged by the time I reached the hospital entrance. My legs felt shaky, my heart still racing from the way I had escaped Chad’s apartment. The tiny black device was secure in my hand, tucked deep into my pocket like a lifeline. If anyone could help me decode it, expose Chad, and figure out the truth—it was Kael. I hurried down the hall, ignoring the curious stares from nurses. I reached the ward and stopped at the doorway, confused. Kael’s bed was empty. Sheets folded. Machines removed. No sign of him anywhere. A cold chill crawled up my spine. I walked straight to the nurses’ station. “Excuse me,” I said, breathless. “Where’s the patient from Room 209? Kael Harrison?” The nurse clicked through her computer casually. “Oh… he’s been transferred.” “Transferred?”
