Chapter 154: Breathing Space

887 Words

Amy’s POV Two weeks passed like a soft breeze brushing against a wounded soul. The palace felt calmer after everything that had happened. Kael was finally out of danger. The doctors had done their part, and the rest of his recovery happened right here under the glow of chandeliers and the sound of our daughter’s laughter. This morning, the sun warmed the palace courtyard. Kael sat on the mat with our daughter, lifting her high as she squealed. I watched them from the balcony, leaning on the railing, feeling something soften inside me. Peace. I had forgotten what that even felt like. “You’re staring,” Kael called out with a teasing smile. He stood up, holding the baby against his chest as he walked toward me. “I’m admiring,” I said as I walked down to meet him. “There’s a difference.”
