The results were finally here.
I held the envelope in my trembling hands, eyes fixed on Clide and Cassandra.
Since Kael couldn't give me a grandchild then his brother Clide will do that for me. The name of the Woods family must go on.
“You said the doctor confirmed it’s your child, right?” I asked slowly.
Cassandra nodded nervously, rubbing her belly. “Of course, Grandma. Why would I lie?”
“Then let’s see.”
I tore the envelope open. My heart thudded as I scanned the paper. The letters blurred for a moment… then froze.
Paternity result: Excluded. Clide Woods is not the biological father.
My breath hitched. “What… what is this?”
Clide frowned. “Grandma, what’s wrong?”
I slammed the paper on the table. “This! This is what’s wrong!”
