When Tae made it downstairs the next day, Gabriel had already made his appearance. He had never felt so good in such a long time that his body felt light. He had skipped down the stairs in search of Neb, for the bed was empty. He wanted to bring her back into the room and lock the door for the rest of the day.
“Hi,” Lei waved at him from across the room.
Tae’s skip came to an abrupt halt as he stared at the man next to Gabriel and a sad-looking woman, through the open doorway and he felt each blow to his body then. His mouth thinned for this was the man he vowed to kill. A furrow came across his forehead as he advanced slowly to the doorway, peering in as the wall revealed his friends.
