Harper’s POV I had turned myself away from Lucas to glare out the window and toward the woods. The same woods that I once found solace in, and had now become a crime scene. I stopped trying to hold back the tears and broken breaths that escaped me. My chest ached with a pain I never wished to experience. Wrapping my arms around myself, I mourned for a woman that I didn’t even know. Yet, I never felt more connected to a complete stranger in my life. I tucked my head toward my chest, trying to fight through the ache that surrounded my heart. A moment later, I felt a large pair of arms wrap around me.
