Harper’s POV
“Harper?”
“Is she alright?”
“She’s turned really pale all of a sudden.”
I’m sure I was pale. The expression on my face could not have been anything less than stunned. Appalled. Completely dumbfounded.
“How...How could we have missed this?” I mumbled to myself. “It was like it was staring us in the face the entire time...Why didn’t she say anything?”
“What is she muttering?” Nora asked. “Can anyone make out what she’s saying?”
Lucas reached out to keep me from tripping over my own feet. He grabbed my shoulders and gently shook me out of my frigid state.
“Harper? What is it?”
I pressed a hand to my chest and took in a deep breath, trying to regain my clarity. Now wasn't the time to lose my resolve.
