Lucas’s POV The unearthly sound that tore through the air felt like broken shards of glass were scraping against my eardrums. The noise shook the very ground I was pinned to. I half-expected some of the trees to start falling down around us. Calix staggered off of me, trying desperately to shield himself from the unbearable sound. I was too weak, unable to move my arms. Nevertheless, I managed to tilt my head to the side where I caught a terrifying glimpse of Harper. Only...I knew that Harper. Not my mate. This entity that had taken her place was unlike anything I’d ever encountered. The gentle shade of light blue where Harper’s eyes used to be had been replaced by endless pockets of light. Her delicate facial features had grown sharp and pointy as if she’d been carved from stone.
