“Have you guys worked everything out?” Adam asked gently as we stood side by side, rinsing dishes after breakfast.
“We both need time, Adam,” I replied, taking a deep breath. “He’s ready to move on, and I agree with him. We both know the three of us won’t work. And he knows that too.” I paused, glancing at Adam. “Thank you for being open to it, though. I think it really helped him move forward.”
Adam gave a soft smile, though there was a touch of sadness in his eyes. “He must still hate himself for everything that happened. I know I would if I were in his shoes.”
