“You went to Svetlana without tellin’ us?” Judas questioned. The accusation echoed off the stone walls, sharp enough to draw every lingering gaze back to them.
When Sonia returned to the council chambers of dark magic, Judas was already waiting for her in the shadows. He had sensed a powerful magical signature summon her away, but he hadn't been able to pinpoint exactly who possessed that kind of strength until the moment Sonia materialized back in the room.
Sonia smoothed down her robes with a sharp flick, irritation simmering beneath her composure. “I didn’t go o’ my own free will. She beat me to it,” she reiterated.
Judas stepped closer, eyes narrowing like a man testing the limits of his courage. “And why were you plannin’ to go see her in the first place?”
