I slowly opened my heavy eyes.
The bright white lights of the hospital ceiling burned my vision and I blinked a few times, trying to clear the blurry fog from my brain.
A steady, quiet beeping sound echoed in the room and I took a shallow breath, and a sharp, terrible pain shot right through my wrapped ribs.
