Theo’s POV I had been back from Alaska for a week now. but I haven't seen the sun. I closed all the thick curtains and locked the door with only a bottle of strong whiskey for company. Every time I closed my eyes, I heard her sweet, desperate voice echoing in my empty room. The last words she said played inside my head on a terrible, endless loop. They were cutting my heart into a million tiny pieces. Even if Violet Stone wasn't my wife, her words hurt me. I took another long drink from the bottle. The alcohol burned my throat, but it did nothing to numb the terrible pain in my chest. "Enough," I whispered to the empty room. My voice sounded rough and broken. I couldn't keep living like this.
