Violet’s (Selena’s) POV
I stared at the paper in my trembling hands. The black numbers blurred together as tears filled my eyes.
"Take the children back inside the bedroom, Violet," Theo commanded. "We need to talk privately."
I didn't want to obey him but l couldn't let them see what l think was going to happen.
I took Leo and Lilian by their hands and gently guided them back into the bedroom.
"Go play with your coloring books on the bed, okay?" I whispered to them, kissing their foreheads. "Mommy will be right back."
I walked back out into the hallway and pulled the door shut, leaving just a tiny crack open so I could hear them.
