The words left the King’s mouth and the entire world went completely dead silent.
I stopped breathing. My mind went totally blank, and my heart felt like it stopped beating as I stared at the King, my eyes wide with pure shock.
I looked at his face, then I looked down at the old piece of paper on the desk, and then I looked back at him. My ears were ringing so loudly that I could barely hear the sounds outside.
