He smiles. “You’re doing great. Your vitals are perfect and we might get that mask off tonight. We patched up the laceration, and you’re going to recover quickly.”
I manage a slow nod.
Mom turns to him. “How long do you think it will take for her to get back to class?”
The doctor tilts his head and casts a quick glance at me, and I swear I can read his thought too: Woman, she just survived a car crash, and this is your question?
“The recovery time varies,” he answers carefully. “Since we were able to preserve the spleen, she should be stable in about a week to two weeks. We’ll need to monitor her closely for any signs of infection or internal bleeding but I strongly recommend letting her focus on rest before worrying about other things.”
