ALLISON’S POV We’ve been waiting here for two hours. Justin has been in surgery for two hours and it feels like thirty years. “Katy, come sit.” Braydon says to Katy who’s pacing around, agitated and near tears, but she shakes her head and keeps going. I’m sitting, not because I’m holding it together, but because I’m so scared my legs gave out the moment they wheeled him in. My hands won’t stop trembling no matter how hard I squeeze them between my thighs, no matter how many times I fold and refold them. Every few seconds, a cold tremor moves through me, neck to tailbone, and I genuinely feel like I’m going to be sick. This must have been how Katy and everyone felt when I crashed my car. Sitting here staring at a ceiling that doesn’t answer, praying to nothing. Except I’m not an athlet
