Her teeth sank in deep, right where my pulse thundered under the skin. Right where I would have bit her too.
For one suspended second, everything inside me short-circuited, then heat exploded down my spine, the corridor vanished, the nursery vanished.
Hell, the facility, the alarms, Thane’s sharp inhale, Keres’s curse, the women behind the door, the babies, the blood, the fear — all of it dropped away beneath the brutal, impossible pressure of her blooming inside me.
Eden’s teeth were in my throat.
Her body was against mine.
Her claws dug into my shirt, holding me close, keeping me there.
As if I would have ever refused her claim.
And in the empty place where Pluto had been silent for so long— Something moved.
A scrape.
A low, broken sound from deep, deep inside me.
