“No.” My fingers tightened against his jaw. “Don’t you f*****g do that to me. Not now. Not when she’s out there. Not when Thane stayed behind to give us this chance.”
A lone tear slipped down his cheek.
He didn’t wipe it away.
Didn’t even seem to notice.
And f**k, I knew what he was feeling because it was eating me alive too. The same fear. The same pain. The same horrible empty place where our wolves should have been.

“She’s here,” I said, and my voice shook badly enough that rage couldn’t hide the fear anymore. “She has to be.”
