Chapter 087-1

717 Words

LAYLA’S POV If someone had told me three months ago that I’d end up in front of a councilman twice, I would’ve laughed in their face. But here we are. It’s almost tempting to blame everything on becoming Edward’s roommate, like moving into that lodge somehow triggered a chain reaction of disasters. Except I know better. This isn’t bad luck. This is all happening because Colt can’t stand the fact that I moved on after he cheated on me, rejected me and expected me to stay broken over it. “Why is everyone staring at us?” I whisper to Edward, my hand clutched tightly in his as we walk toward the trial room. “Ignore them,” he replies flatly. Yeah, that’s easy for him to say. My heart is trying to escape through my throat and every step feels like I’m dragging a fifty-kilo bag of rocks.
