LAYLA’S POV “Do you think he’s here?” I ask, tilting my head up to look at Edward. He nods, facing straight ahead and, like he has for the past five minutes, says absolutely nothing. Normally, that wouldn’t mean much. Edward has never exactly been the most talkative person but today feels different somehow. The ride here was worse. I tried starting a conversation more than once and every attempt died almost immediately, not because he was rude about it or told me to stop talking. He just seemed distracted or annoyed.
