Chapter 79 - Don’t be Dead
They left the old high school and started heading south. Their plan was to return to Laura’s father’s house for the night, before beginning the journey back to the mountain. However, when they were less than a mile down the road, Laura went ridgid in the saddle. The horse, snorted and stopped abruptly, as though sensing something was wrong with his rider.
George swore and pulled up, “s**t, she’s having a seizure, get her out of the saddle.” Before he could get off his mount, Seth had jumped off and was already easing her body from the horse, laying her onto the pavement. Her body remained stiff, and her eyes stared upwards at the sky. George squatted beside them as Seth brushed the hair back out of her face.
