One moment, I was listening to Adrian talk about how he wanted me to understand everything and how he wanted the best for me and in the next moment, the door went flying downwards.
I smelled him before I saw him.
Zane.
He didn’t hesitate or even try to speak to me. His eyes locked onto me first, sweeping over my body like he was counting my bones, breaths, heartbeats. I saw relief in his eyes and then almost immediately, he took his eyes away.
