Jessica/Tessa pov. We gathered around the table. The map was spread out, stones holding the corners down. Zane stood at the center, arms folded, saying nothing, just watching like a predator waiting for the wrong move. Fred broke the quiet first, leaning over the map and tapping a calloused finger on the east side. “If Paige comes from here, she’ll trap herself against the river. I don’t think she’ll risk that. My guess is the valley.” Tyson shook his head. “Too narrow. We could block her forces there. She’ll take the ridge instead, it gives her cover.” Zane finally spoke. “Paige won’t fight straight. She’ll strike where she thinks we’re weakest.” His eyes shifted to me. “Now that she knows almost everything about our tribe, we’re at a huge disadvantage,” I said. The others nodded.
