Jessica/Tessa’s pov; The dagger was old. Older than even Adrian himself. The hilt was carved with faded runes. I held it steady and before he could even think about moving away, I struck him immediately, the blade meeting him directly where I wanted it, at the nape of his neck. It wouldn’t kill him, not yet. It would just weaken him. Then suddenly, just as quickly as I had struck him, pain exploded behind my eyes. It was sharp and sudden, like something had split my skull open from the inside. I gasped, the dagger slipping from my fingers and clattering to the ground. “No..” My knees felt like jelly. My vision blurred. I reached out blindly,my fingers scraping the floor, trying to steady myself, but there was nothing to hold onto. My wolf howled in pain as my body hit the ground.
